Borgo Pinti - FlorenceAccommodates 4 2 Bedrooms 2 Baths Borgo Pinti is a typical narrow medieval street in the heart of Florences centro storico. Our flat, at the southern end of the street, is housed in a 16th-century Medici building. The sculptor Giambologna had his studio in this very building and indeed lived in our flat. For sightseeing, the location absolutely could not be better. Three blocks to the west is the Duomo, its museum, Giottos Campanile, and the Baptistery with the Ghiberti doors. To the east are the synagogue and the SantAmbrogio covered market, Florences best. To the south Santa Croce, the Bargello, Piazza della Signoria, and the Uffizi. And to the north the Accademia (Michelangelos David and Slaves), the Convent of San Marco (for the Fra Angelicos), and our favorite open space in all Florence, the delightful Piazza Santissima Annunziata. The neighborhood is full of practical things like shops of all sorts, banks, coffee bars, post office, internet café, restaurants, and public transport. Our Borgo Pinti flat apartment is on the second floor and has been carefully restored in compliance with the Ministry of Art as it is classified as a national treasure. It is composed of an enormous, imposing, indeed quite spectacular formal living room with double-height frescoed ceilings; a separate dining room; brand-new custom-built kitchen; two matrimonial bedrooms each with en-suite bath; and laundry room. All the ceilings are double-volume; some are frescoed and some are beamed. Floors are terracotta, and walls are done in the old-fashioned waxed method. Amenities include independent heating, A/C, washing machine, dishwasher, and telephone. While the bedrooms and baths are not equal in size, we feel that this flat is excellent for two couples. Families with children are welcomed, but the flat is formal, and children must be well-behaved. If you want something really special in the very heart of Florence, please consider the Borgo Pinti flat.
