Luminous, wonderfully located apartment in the Santa Croce section of Florence. Walk to absolutely everything, including all the city's most famous museums, monuments, restaurants, and caffés. Close by are the open-air fruit and vegetable market at Sant'Ambrogio, a post office, and general shopping. The apartment is situated near several theatres, most notably Teatro Verdi and La Pergola, both of which host concerts throughout the year. Some of Florence's most famous restaurants are steps away. A paid parking garage is 50 feet down the street.

The building has 4 stories: an artisan's shop is on ground level, and each floor above has a single apartment which occupies the entire floor. Our apartment is on the American third floor, and there is an elevator. The entry hall to the building is not at all elegant, serving primarily as a parking lot for tenant bicycles.

This is a large apartment, over 2,500 square feet. All rooms are of generous proportions, including the baths. The apartment is comfortable but not luxurious. The particularly spacious living room is furnished with a sofa and armchairs, good reading lamps, some nice wooden pieces, and a baby grand piano. A separate dining room seats 8 comfortably. The two bedrooms are of equal size; one is matrimonial, the other twin. All mattresses are of recent date and excellent quality - we know, since we ourselves stayed here an entire month recently.

Between the two bedrooms is a room of equally generous proportions, but since one must go through either of the bedrooms to get to a bathroom, we felt it wasn't right to call this "in-between" room a "real" bedroom, even though it could easily serve as one. We furnished this room as a study/den with color TV and single bed which doubles as a sofa.

The kitchen is small but perfectly adequate with a dishwasher. Two full baths both feature shower over tub; one of the baths contains the washing machine.

The flat has a telephone, and clients have successfully hooked up portable computers to collect email, etc. There are also internet cafés in the neighborhood, if you encounter difficulties.

The Verrazzano apartment has proven to be one of our most successful properties ever. It is ideal for two couples or for a family. We do not know of a better, more reasonably-priced apartment of its size in Florence.
