Villa Sarnano - Marche

Accommodates 17 + 4 persons — 9 Bedrooms — 9 Baths
Swimming Pool

Our Villa Sarnano is a true rarity: A villa that really holds 17 adults comfortably in 8 more or less equal double bedrooms and 1 single, all – including the single – with their own baths either en-suite or immediately adjacent. Moreover, all the bedrooms can be made up as either twins or matrimonials. In this way, the Villa Sarnano can host all sorts of groups: families traveling together with children; extended families gathering for a reunion; groups of single friends who don’t want necessarily to share beds; groups of couples wanting privacy and independence. For each and all, the Villa Sarnano is really ideal.

The English owners will offer you a warm welcome, and they will direct you to the best restaurants, designer factories, and Italian real estate agents, as well as walks and places to visit.

The Villa Sarnano is really a big farmhouse retaining the authenticity yet adding all the modcons including a restaurant-quality kitchen with 8-burner stove and industrial dishwasher and refrigeration, plus a laundry room whose washing and drying appliances can really serve a house of this size and capacity. Imagine breakfast on the terrace looking out at the mountains or dinner by candlelight watching the sunset. Experience fresh, clean air, the peaceful sounds of the countryside, and what guests describe as one of the best night's sleep they have ever had.

So where are we, exactly? Well, very close to the hilltop medieval town of San Ginesio, with walls and gateways intact, designated a place of historic interest and referred to by La Repubblica national newspaper as “Un piccolo borgo delizioso” a delightful little place. In the piazza you can watch the world go by, enjoy the locals parading - there’s even a battle re-enactment and the incredible spectacle of the Palio on August 15th, with medieval costumes, jousting and feasting. We are also close to Sarnano with its centro storico, an amazing restored old town set on the round. Other nearby places are Tolentino, Treia, Pollenza, and Visso. Don’t recognize the names? Good! That’s why they’re still beautiful and unspoiled by mass tourism. There’s Macerata with its open-air opera theatre in summer and Marche’s main city of Ancona with its historic port. Fabulous restaurants are just waiting to surprise you, serving everything from local meats to the freshest seafoods and if you are brave enough, a seven-course set meal. There are actually two establishments close to Ancona with Michelin stars.

Access? Ancona is the closest airport, services by Ryanair, Lufthansa, Alitalia, and others. You’re about a 3-hour drive from Rome.

Set on a steep hillside, surrounded by the property’s own fruit and nut trees, and even a small wood, Villa Sarnano provides a wonderful place to relax. Surrounding fields are host to carpets of poppies in May, followed by glittering fire flies in June, before the sunflowers appear through July and August. There’s always something to see throughout the changing seasons, with busy farmers tending their fields, birds of prey soaring above, or you may even be lucky enough to see swallows diving over the pool in the early evening. Sunsets are unreal and the colour of the sky some days looks as if it was painted by Raphael.

The garden surrounding the villa offers spaces both covered and not, with shady porticos as well as chaises longues surrounding the pool for sun lovers. The pool area has exceptional views across the valley to the Sibillini mountains and provides a welcome place to cool off during the long, hot summer days.

Back inside the house, in addition to the 9 bedrooms and baths, you’ve obviously got the living and dining rooms which run the full width of the villa, simply furnished with doors opening onto the outside terrace and bar, where you can take advantage of the stunning views across the garden to the mountains. You can have your meals alfresco as the spring and long summer days emerge, and even into mid- to late fall. One of the bedrooms is quite romantic, with a four-poster bed facing French doors which lead out onto a private balcony where you can enjoy a chilled glass of wine whilst the sun is setting. Bathrooms throughout have been designed simply and are equipped with power shower, washbasin, toilet, hairdryer, and towels. A travel crib is available for babies, and extra folding beds for children can easily be put into some of the bedrooms, bringing the absolute total capacity of the villa up to 23.

What more can we say? The Villa Sarnano is a beautiful, flexible, immensely practical, reasonably priced home in a gorgeous setting.
