Located in the same historic palazzo as our Fontana flat, in the heart of Rome's old Jewish quarter, Pietro One is a great flat for families or couples traveling together. (In fact, if several families are traveling together, and if you give us plenty of advance notice, you can take two or more of the flats in this palazzo and be all together.)

To describe this location as central is a vast understatement. You can walk in under 10 minutes to Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, the Campidoglio, the Forum, and Trastevere. Only slightly further away by foot (or via one of the many convenient buses nearby) are the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, and Vatican City. Top restaurants and family trattorie are steps away, as are all the shops and services you can imagine.

Pietro One is on the second floor (with elevator) of this family palazzo. Security is good, and there is a doorman during the day. An entry hall leads to the sitting room, separate formal dining room, and small but well-equipped kitchen. A hall leads from the living room to a matrimonial and a twin bedroom, each with en-suite bath. These two bedrooms have their own lofts with study and storage space. There is a third bathroom on this floor with shower, which is "assigned" to the flat's third bedroom, with matrimonial bed (and low ceilings), up 12 steps from the main level of the apartment.

Housekeeping is included two hours each day, and there are both telephone and washing machine.

You've got to make some compromises to stay in this flat. Rooms aren't large; there's definitely a cocoon-like feeling to being here. But there's air-conditioning in summer, good heating in winter, 3 bedrooms each with its own bath, and a location second to none in the Eternal City.
