San Francesco di Sales - Rome

    print this page

    Accommodates 2+2 — 2 Bedrooms — 2 Baths

The fact that Vicolo San Francesco di Sales is down the street from the Rome city jail does not detract a bit from its immense charm. (And incidentally, this fact alone makes it perhaps the safest street in the entire city!)

Perhaps the most important feature to note about the apartment is that it is extremely spacious. Each floor, for example, has its own large living room, furnished comfortably, charmingly, and cozily. The upper floor houses both bedrooms, one with a divisible king-size bed and an en-suite bath with shower over tub. The second bedroom is much smaller than the first and is suitable only for children, teenagers, or perhaps for one adult. The apartment is definitely not suitable for 2 couples.

Downstairs consists of the second living room, plus a nice dining area with table for 6. The eat-in kitchen is particularly well-equipped. Off the kitchen is the second bathroom with a large shower stall. The apartment is equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, and telephone.

The flat is light and fully modernized, with beautiful parquet floors. There are some noise issues, as a car mechanic has his shop virtually next door, and work begins very early in the morning. Night noise is not an issue. In fact, we ourselves would stay here without hesitation.

The Trastevere location is excellent. This is a typically Roman neighborhood, utterly untouristed, and yet just a 5- or 6-minute walk over the Ponte Mazzini to the open-air market at Campo dei Fiori. The Orto Botanico, one of the most beautiful and peaceful places in Rome, is located just three blocks away. Two of Rome's loveliest museums, the Farnesina and the Palazzo Corsini, are around the corner.
