It is so rare to find a four-bedroom villa in central Tuscany ideal for four couples. Usually, bedrooms are unequal or have poorly positioned bathrooms or have non-unifiable twin beds. Our Old Schoolhouse is one such rarity. Villa Ambrosia is another.
Location? Smack in the middle of the triangle formed by Siena, Arezzo, and Florence. Which is to say: the heart of Chianti country. The nearest village is Amra The villa is part of a large estate dotted with olive trees, vineyards, and oak woods. This location means you can go in any direction and find major sightseeing: north to Florence; west to San Gimignano and Volterra; east to Arezzo and Cortona; and south to Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino, and the Val d’Orcia, in our opinion THE most beautiful landscape in all of Italy (and that’s saying something).
Villa Ambrosia’s owner lives in a separate house a mile away on the same estate. The result? You’ve got total privacy, but you’ve not stranded without a nearby resource for things from restaurant advice to an unlikely minor plumbing problem. The grounds feature beautiful flowers and other plantings, plus a fantastic 5x16-meter infinity swimming pool with adjacent sauna and bath. A large patio features a barbeque and a real pizza oven.
Inside, the fully air-conditioned villa, personally furnished by the owner, features cotto floors and beamed ceilings throughout. All rooms on the ground floor give directly out onto the garden. There’s a big living room with satellite TV and fireplace; dining room with French doors and a lovely view out onto the grounds; and all-appliance kitchen with another fireplace; and, finally, a guest half-bath.
A stone staircase leads upstairs to three equal bedrooms with en-suite baths, one with shower; one with shower over tub; one with bathtub, separate shower, and double sink. The matrimonial-sized beds are excellent and are NOT divisible into twins, making the house perfect for couples traveling together.
Next to the main house is a 2000-square-foot guest house consisting of its own large living room with fireplace, TV, stereo, and comfortable seating; kitchenette with fridge and electric range; and double bedroom with a large en-suite pink marble bathroom with shower. The bedroom in the cottage is air-conditioned. Wi-fi internet is included. Housekeeping is included three mornings per week, as is a simple meal upon your arrival at the property, and additional domestic services, including cooking, are available as well.
